Marine Conservation Volunteer Opportunity With Diving

Be a Marine Conservation Volunteer (Panama)

At Ankay Conservation Centre, we offer a unique opportunity for a marine conservation volunteer to turn diving into an educational and impactful experience. As a 5-star PADI resort and a dedicated hub for marine conservation, we focus on citizen science and coral restoration. Volunteers from around the world join us for immersive experiences in marine biology, diving, and sustainability.

We are now seeking an enthusiastic and engaging individual to enhance the onsite atmosphere, support our marketing efforts, and help create a vibrant and welcoming environment for participants.

Marine Conservation Volunteer: Tasks & Roles

This role is all about creating an inviting and inclusive environment for everyone who joins our programme. You will be responsible for organising and leading group activities, including beach excursions, social gatherings such as movie or game nights, and cultural outings to explore the local area. Acting as the bridge between participants and staff, you will help address any concerns, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and has a rewarding time with us.

Marketing is a vital part of this position, and you will contribute by capturing high-quality photos and videos of daily life at the centre, marine conservation activities, and participant experiences. Basic editing will be required before uploading content to our shared drive. Additionally, you will be responsible for posting two to three Instagram stories per day, offering a glimpse into life at Ankay. You will also collaborate with our remote marketing specialist, providing raw footage and creative suggestions for reels and posts.

Beyond these responsibilities, you will play a key role in fostering a sense of community, encouraging social interaction, and promoting teamwork among participants. Your presence will help create an environment that is both engaging and reflective of our conservation values.

Rather than adhering to strict working hours, we focus on achieving meaningful outcomes. For instance, social media content can be prepared in advance and scheduled accordingly. Our goal is to arrange two structured participant activities per week—one relaxed, on-site event and another that involves an excursion.

Marine Conservation Volunteer: Living & Getting There

We provide accommodation in a shared four-bed dormitory, offering volunteers a comfortable and sociable living space. As part of your stay, you will have access to diving opportunities and marine conservation activities. Additionally, a small stipend is provided to help cover transport and local experiences, such as boat taxis and recreational outings.

To reach us, you will need to fly to Isla Colón, followed by a short taxi boat ride to our location in Solarte. While the setting is remote and immersed in nature, it provides a truly unique opportunity to experience the wonders of marine conservation in a stunning tropical environment.

Marine Conservation Volunteer: What Else

The ideal candidate for this role is outgoing, sociable, and passionate about working with people from diverse backgrounds. A PADI Open Water certification is required, or you must be willing to obtain it within your first three months. Experience in hospitality, community management, or marketing would be advantageous, as would skills in photography and videography. Familiarity with Instagram and social media trends, along with strong organisational and communication abilities, is essential. Fluency in English is a must, while Spanish proficiency would be a significant asset.

If you are passionate about the ocean, conservation, and creating unforgettable experiences for others, we would love for you to become part of the Ankay Conservation Centre team.
