Work Exchange in a Hostel in Sofia: Tasks & Roles
You will be joining a lively and diverse team of local staff with international experience, as well as volunteers from around the world. Your main responsibilities will involve welcoming and interacting with backpackers and tourists on a daily basis, exchanging travel stories and tips, practising languages, and discovering Sofia together. Your duties will include managing the reception area, assisting with check-ins and check-outs, monitoring security footage, and overseeing housekeeping and guest requests. Although most guest reservations will be handled automatically and remotely, you will be a key face-to-face point of contact for visitors.
Work Exchange in a Hostel in Sofia: Living & Getting There
Accommodation will be provided in a shared dormitory with two bunk beds, which will be shared exclusively with other volunteers. Kitchen and bathroom facilities will be communal, shared with hostel guests. The hostel itself is situated in a beautifully restored historic building from the early 20th century, right in the heart of Sofia. It is located on a charming pedestrian street, only a block away from the Serdika metro station, which is conveniently connected to the airport.
The reception area doubles as a bar and lounge, and there’s also an entertainment room with a PS5 and a large projector screen for you to enjoy during your free time, provided it’s not being used by guests. For those arriving by plane, Sofia Airport (SOF) is the nearest airport, and I’ll be happy to arrange a pick-up from Serdika metro station, which is just one stop from the airport and a mere block from the hostel.
