We offer a meaningful opportunity for those looking to volunteer in Tanzania and make a lasting impact on local communities. Our initiatives focus on empowering women and children in Mafinga by fostering self-sufficiency, education, and entrepreneurship. Through essential training programmes and resource development, we aim to create opportunities that enable individuals to build sustainable futures. Volunteers are a crucial part of this mission, and we warmly welcome those who wish to contribute their time and skills to support our efforts.
Volunteer in Tanzania: Tasks & Roles
Volunteers play a significant role in the development of a dedicated facility designed to provide training in tailoring, carpentry, gardening, and digital literacy. This centre will act as a space where women can gain practical skills, develop sustainable businesses, and receive guidance in financial and business management. However, bringing this vision to life requires substantial effort, resources, and dedicated individuals.
Depending on your abilities and interests, you may assist with the construction of the centre, including assembling furniture such as tables and shelving, painting and decorating interiors, and landscaping outdoor areas to support gardening projects. Volunteers also contribute to skills training by organising workshops in tailoring, carpentry, and digital literacy, helping to equip young women with the expertise they need to achieve financial independence. Additionally, support in business development and mentorship programmes will provide invaluable guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs.
Another essential aspect of our volunteer programme is enhancing educational opportunities for children. Volunteers may take part in building classrooms to ensure that underprivileged children have access to a safe and nurturing learning environment. Assistance in teaching, tutoring, and engaging children in creative educational activities is also greatly valued.
Volunteer in Tanzania: Living & Getting There
Volunteers are provided with private accommodation, with each person allocated a single room that includes a bed and mattress. Basic toilet facilities are located outside the main house. This simple but comfortable setup ensures privacy while allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the experience of community living.
The nearest international airport is Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam. Upon arrival, volunteers typically spend one night in the city before travelling to the project site the following day. The journey is by bus and costs approximately $20 per person. For those seeking a more convenient but costlier alternative, there is also an airport in Iringa, which significantly reduces travel time. Our team will be on hand throughout your stay to provide support, orientation, and assistance whenever needed.
Volunteer in Tanzania: What Else
Your involvement in this project will have a lasting impact on the local community, helping individuals build brighter, more self-sufficient futures. The work you do, whether in construction, training, or education, will create meaningful opportunities for those who need them most.
Please note that participation in this programme may involve certain costs. We strongly advise discussing these details with Agnes before making any commitments or booking travel arrangements. Your enthusiasm, dedication, and contributions will make a real difference, and we look forward to welcoming you to our community.
