This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in ecological practices while surrounded by the beauty of nature.

Permaculture Volunteer in Mexico: Tasks & Roles

Our work is guided by the climate and the needs of each project, offering flexibility and variety in daily tasks. Volunteers typically engage in either permaculture practices or natural building. If you are unfamiliar with permaculture principles, this experience may not be the right fit for you. However, for those eager to learn, we provide hands-on training, ensuring that you work alongside an experienced team member who will guide you through each task.

In natural building, you may assist in constructing and maintaining structures using local and recycled materials. In permaculture, tasks may include planting, maintaining the food forest, and tending to organic gardens. The work is both practical and educational, offering valuable skills for those seeking to deepen their understanding of sustainable living.

Permaculture Volunteer in Mexico: Living & Getting There

Accommodation is available in either a private room or a dormitory, depending on the number of volunteers. We recommend bringing your own sleeping bag or bedding for added comfort. Living conditions are simple but rewarding, featuring dry toilets, outdoor showers, and an open-air kitchen. This environment is for those who appreciate a pioneering lifestyle rather than the comforts of urban living. Nature is at the heart of our daily experience, with the sounds of birds, the wind in the pines, and the calls of coyotes at night creating a peaceful atmosphere. Out of respect for this setting, we ask that music be played through headphones to maintain the tranquillity of the land.

The closest international airport is Guadalajara (GDL), while the nearest domestic airport is Colima (CLQ). Regular buses connect both locations to our area, and we can arrange pick-ups from local bus stations or Colima Airport. Alternatively, ride-sharing options such as BlaBlaCar may offer a convenient way to reach us.

Permaculture Volunteer in Mexico: What Else

This experience is ideal for those eager to learn new skills and contribute to a meaningful project. It is an opportunity to invest in personal growth while embracing a self-sufficient lifestyle in a remote yet welcoming setting near a safe and charming village.

We have a few important guidelines in place to ensure a positive experience for all. The use of drugs is strictly prohibited. While moderate social drinking is acceptable, excessive alcohol consumption is not. We also ask that volunteers respect work hours by limiting phone and social media use during tasks. If you plan to leave the ranch, please inform us in advance with your expected return date and time.

Our schedule allows for two days off after five days of work. If you wish to join us for a trip to the beach, we typically plan these outings on quieter weekdays to avoid the weekend crowds. The work, the setting, and the knowledge gained all contribute to a truly enriching experience, offering a deeper connection to nature and sustainable living.
