  • DescriptionThis is a 100 year old traditional Japanese house with large garden, just four stations from the town of Kamakura and a convenient base for sightseeing.

    The hills around the house are gorgeous in spring with cherry blossom, and in autumn with the changing leaves. There are views of Mt. Fuji, and the sea from the neighbourhood.

    We also have a house in Tokyo and you can spend time at both houses, and need to be flexible about which house we need you in.

    - Sleep area is Japanese-styled with futons in shared rooms with other volunteers
    - There is also a communal lounge with a Japanese low table and traditional seating
    - The communal kitchen has western table and chairs
    - There are 2 toilets in the house (one Western, one Japanese) and there is a separate bath and shower

  • This is a traditional old Japanese house in pristine condition and 100 years old. The walls are THIN and the floors a bit creaky but it is an extraordinarily beautiful, calm and tranquil place with a large and lovely Japanese garden. It is a real pleasure to be in and experience this style of living.
    Try to arrive in daylight hours if you can. Our street can be dark.
    We sometimes travel to go hiking to the mountains leaving Sat am and coming back Sun pm. Let us know if you would like to join us
    The house is perfectly sited a 6 minute bike ride away from Shichirigahama beach and a 15 minute bike ride away from Yuigahama swimming beach
    The house is 5 stops away from the Enoshima Sea Candle.
    We need:
    1. People to look after Airbnb guests in Kamakura, cleaning and changing beds etc.
    2. Carpenters and tradesmen welcome anytime
    3. Gardeners welcome anytime from May through summer
    4. People with good computer skills, especially mac, SEO skills, social media updating skills, online marketing skills, wordpress website updating skills.
    5. Chinese people to translate our websites into Chinese, and find new places for us to list our traditional Japanese cultural activities
