Help required at stunning Sicilian agriturismo from February to Oct 2022

  • Marker details
  • DescriptionOverview:

Help wanted at stunning Sicilian agriturismo. We run a small, picturesque agriturismo in the beautiful Platani valley - 20 mins north of Agrigento and the famous valley of the Temples. We are looking to fill two positions for the 2022 tourism season.

POSITION 1 (unpaid): We need a female who:
    - is native or fluent in English (to communicate with guests)
    - speaks Italian to a sufficient level (to communicate with us)
    - is cheery, sociable and likes meeting people
    - is reliable and honest (someone we can entrust to look after the agriturismo while we are busy working on the farm)
    - already has a European Passport or long-stay Italian visa (we cannot help the applicant with this)

The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the agriturismo and cooking for the guests. Work will include: greeting and liasing with guests; creating the menus and preparing food for the guests, checking stock supplies; managing bookings; and organising and providing support to the other staff with their cleaning, housekeeping and kitchen assistance duties. You will therefore be like the matriarch of the agriturismo. However, since the agriturismo is our home (and not a hotel) we want you to feel at home and manage it just like you would if you were managing your own home.

Hospitality, catering and managerial experience would be an advantage.

This position is unpaid however we will provide you with your own en-suite bedroom, all meals and ample time-off to explore the beautiful countryside or simply relax by our pool. And true to Sicilian tradition we will welcome you into our family!

Position 2 (paid): We need a couple who:
    - are native or fluent in English (to communicate with guests)
    - speak Italian to a sufficient level (to communicate with us)
    - are cheery, sociable and like meeting people
    - are reliable and honest
    - are hardworking and happy to help when it is busy (which is why this position is paid).
    - already have European Passports or long-stay Italian visa (we cannot help the applicants with this)

The successful applicants will be responsible for housekeeping/cleaning, kitchen assistance, running the breakfast buffet, liasing and helping to host guests and occasional farm work.

Hospitality and catering experience would be an advantage.

This position is paid during the tourist season (following a successful unpaid probationary period). We will also provide you with your own en-suite bedroom and all meals. During your time-off you will have an opportunity to explore the beautiful countryside or simply relax by our pool. And true to Sicilian tradition we will welcome you into our family!

    Sleeping & Eating:

We will provide you with one of our beautiful en-suite rooms. It has air-conditioning/heating, a TV and fridge. All meals are included during your stay. Food is an important element in Sicilian culture as are mealtimes, which are shared all together. A lot of food prepared in our kitchen is sourced directly from our farm including our own delicious olive oil, wine and tomato "sugo".

    Getting to us:

Having your own car is the easiest way to reach us, and also enables you to sightsee more easily. However, it is possible to easily get to us by public transport from both Palermo and Catania International Airports.

From Palermo airport you can take the train to Aragona Caldare train-station (via Palermo Centrale). From here we will pick you up. Alternatively, if you fly to Catania Airport you can take the bus to Agrigento Centrale Bus station and we will pick you up from here.
