  • Work requirements: We are looking for Honest, Reliable, Practical, Respectable, Sociable, Flexible, Interesting Travellers with a positive attitude and a genuine wish to help whilst gaining new rural skills and life experiences in the special natural environment of the central southern Norwegian mountains. (You might ever see an “Elg” - Moose swimming across the lake with it’s twin calves).

    This is a manual run place (we have a Stallion and two Mares instead of machines) so people need to have good levels of stamina. Various traditional hand tools (including wheelbarrows) are also used and we explain safe operation/maintenance to avoid accidents.

    We would appreciate that Travellers confirm the reasons to visit here, the skills wanting to learn and have a good information profile with a current picture we can read/view to avoid possible misunderstandings and to respond to messages ASAP so we can plan schedules and booking.

    Open to hosting two people at a time from around the world and we are Open Minded/Laid Back and Political/Religious NEUTRAL! Please make sure you have suitable travel insurance (incase of sickness/accident) to cover the period at the Host’s place.

    All people will need to help with simple sustainable Hot/Cold meals and basic cleaning of the accommodation, washing up dishes/pans and sorting the recycling bins. Sensible to have a good rain/snow Jacket/Trousers and safe boots as will often be around large Gentle Giants (Clydesdale Horses). Rechargeable head torch vital depending on seasons of visit.

  • Accommodation: A twin beds room (in the main house) with nice views across fields towards the lake/mountains and an outside seating area. There is fresh spring water to drink, a wood stove, solar lights, toilet and hot shower. Alternative is a 6 Metres wide Lavvo Telt (Tipi) to those who wish to experience rustic Viking life.

  • Rural Life is interesting and varied so depending on the seasons will be learning/helping us here with:- Firewood. Charcoal. Feeding/Watering/Horse Manure Removal. Training Foals. Bagging Sawdust/Wood Shavings. Making Brash Piles/Bonfires. Producing Compost/Potting Plants. Electric Animal Fencing. Stone Walling. Building Horse Sheds. Moving snow from the paths and drive. Spreading gravel on paths. Extending the organic vegetable patch.........

    There is much to see and do in spare time (Wood Carving/Rock Climbing/Fishing/Painting/Photography/Snow Shoes/Skis/Bicycle/Hiking) All with fantastic views and a local map is available so one can roam without becoming lost. It’s a nice area to relax listening to the sounds of nature/wildlife. There is basic WI-FI available but bad mobile signals. Simple to travel here from across Europe using public transport. (Buses/Trains/Ferries) Strict NO SMOKING (including electronic devices) Health/Safety/Insurance Reasons.
