  • DescriptionExciting new opportunity to join 2 small fun family businesses a vibrant community cafe and luxury lodge accommodation for couples. Both businesses work together for a job share post full time on the Knoydart peninsula, a small vibrant highland community on the West Coast Scotland. You will receive accommodation and and a good hourly rate of pay as well.

    Work in our cafe/tearoom would involve a mixture of; waitress/waiter, barista, cleaning duties, Food prep, working a till. Please note although we are also a pottery we do not have any work available within the pottery side of the business. Most skills can be taught and training will be given. Above all we need someone who is friendly and hard working with a good attitude.

    Knoydart hide and studio - We run 2 high end small award winning luxury accommodation lodges sleeping 2 guests, situated close to each other. We are looking for a hard working individual to keep them sparkling for the changeovers. No washing or ironing but you will need good attention to detail and take pride in doing a great job well, working quickly, making beds, polishing, hoovering, dusting and even sprinkling some rose petals! If you are a smiley person, who loves doing a good job well and can use your own initiative we would love to host you. You will be fully trained to work unsupervised as soon as your ready and happy to.

    Both businesses pay on an hourly basis and have a good rate of pay.
    Hours needed will be roughly 35 per week , at least 1 full day off per week and every evening.

    A fully equipped warm and comfortable house, own room, house is shared with 2 other staff, not the owners accommodation and so you will not be living on top of the job . A kitchen living area to share, own bedroom , 5 minutes walk to the pier, sea, local pub, village and works locations. Free wi-fi will also be included and no bills heating included. Your house overlooks a pretty stream and by woodland which is very tranquil.

    We are a short ferry trip to a little town called Mallaig where there are a few shops for groceries and supplies, bars and restaurants, wild life boat cruises and bike hire. There is great public transport links to the Isle of Skye and the Small Isles and a train direct to Glasgow. Fort William is our nearby large town and is just an hour away from Mallaig and is the host of the downhill mountain bike world cup and is known as the outdoor capital of the UK. It is ok if you are not an outdoor enthusiast, sometimes it is just nice to curl up with a good book or have a conversation round a beach bonfire.

    You must have experience in hospitality good with public and housekeeping cleaning to a high standard with attention to detail, good energy to keep things sparkling and a sense of humour - being able to commit until end Sept or Oct or longer.
    1 day off a week and good rates of pay. No evening work

    We are in a stunning location on the shores of loch Nevis with a forest and mountainous back drop described in books as Britains last wilderness. If you enjoy hill walking there are 3 munros on your doorstep (hills over 3.500 feet!). The area is famous for unspoilt beauty and dolphins and porpoises are regularly spotted on the ferry ride and otters and sea eagles on your 5 minute walk to work. The cafe is the heart of our village and prides itself with its warmth and friendliness - come and experience true highland hospitality. Knoydart offers something for everyone from wild swimming ,star gazing, beach walks, climbing hills, impromptu ceilidhs and lots more. Knoydart is a community buyout and we recently just acquired our local pub which is the heartbeat of the community.
