Revivement Project - Bamboo, Music/VJ/DJ-ing and Recycling

  • Marker details
  • DescriptionHello and welcome to Freyr's Bamboo House/Sky-Kubu in Denpasar, Bali from where we are developing a Life Betterment project for people with disabilities and their families. I am an Australian mother of a twenty year old special needs young woman (Freyr) with Intellectual Disability and Autism-like renegade features ... With a huge affinity for music, rhythm, crazy speeds and pitch, squishing sounds and playing them back again and on repeat until your ears feel like they are melting/bleeding... The aim of our existence is to create an environment where Freyr can be nurtured and encouraged to participate in activities that can help her develop her musical/artistic talents and also life skills and coordination tasks (like eco-bricking, pealing off labels, tearing up plastic and things, watering plants, tactile sand play, and visiting her friends next door at Bali Street Kids Project).
We're open to having one or two people come and stay with us - mainly to teach Freyr about music mixing and video/sound editing (we have an antique Mac - the last model made by Steve Jobs - and a cheap Oppo phone.)
and are also open to having someone interested in learning about bamboo and the eco-building side of our project - who would like to help with the daily maintenance and scheduled maintenance tasks on our bamboo house and to also help us to make improvements like installing our bamboo vertical garden hydroponic system... We have many small projects on the go which may be of interest and we also could do with assistance on larger projects our company is involved in - we have some internship positions available which more details are available on our website. (www.bamboocreative.org/bali)
Our house design is quite "open" and made totally from bamboo and natural materials. People think I'm crazy for building a bamboo house in the city - but i really like living in this area - it's so convenient and close to the beach to go for walks, near the local market and local places to wander and find locally made crafts and products and people are so friendly towards Freyr. We have connections with designers and artists and craftspeople in all sorts of trades from wood and bone to silver jewellery and garment manufacture... and can help you to get to know the ins and outs of living in Bali. You won't have "your own" room but will either be in the bamboo bunk-bed cubby in the main living area or upstairs with us in the main bedroom (female-only). We are: myself and Freyr, Rani and Nana (our local carers).
