  • DescriptionMaking a self-sufficient ranch in the Ponderosa Pine forest of northcentral Washington. We are a licensed goat dairy with some 50+ goats. In addition, we have horses, cattle, raise chickens and livestock guard dogs.

  • Type of work Milking goats and learning animal husbandry. Large family garden, fencing, building wooden structures, helping harvest and bring in hay. Irrigating hay fields.
  • Hours per day Summer: 7:00 - noon. 4 days/week.
    Winter: 9:00 - 2:00 pm 4/days/week
  • Work requirements: Hardy souls genuinely interested in learning how to co-exist symbiotically with Nature and the seasonal cycles. Able-bodied and not fussy. Open-minded and observant.

  • Has pets? We have lots of animals: goats, horses, cows, dogs, cats, chickens. Please don't bring your dogs or cats along, as our animals have already established their territory here and don't take kindly to "intruders".
  • Smokes at home? No
  • Accommodation: Single person bunkhouse with wood heater, single bed, propane range, fridge, running water, solar shower, outhouse.
    Couple quarters are a "cedar barn" that has a kitchenette (propane stove), running water, composting toilet, library, double bed.
    We share the bounty of our garden, plus some bulk staples (potatoes, onions, rice, beans, etc.) for 2 meals a day. Helpers are expected to prepare their own dinners in their residences.

  • Ample opportunity to take walks in the woods. There is a pristine 10 mile long lake a short driving (15 minutes) distance away. We are 12 miles from the small town of Omak and can provide limited transportation assistance, based on our couple times weekly trips to town. Horsemanship taught and horseback riding possible.
